The Effect of Subjective Health of Family of Dementia Patients on Depression: Focusing on the Mediating and Moderating Effects of Stress
Cho Seung-Hyun

Abstract
Objective : This study collects data on the subjective health, stress, and depression of families of dementia patients and analyzes their effects on the depression of families of dementia patients. This was implemented to provide basic data for the composition of occupational therapy programs for families of dementia patients in the future.

Methods : For the study, raw data from the Community Health Survey(2019) were used. 2,630 cases were analyzed, limited to cases where family members were diagnosed with dementia, lived with dementia patients, and the family mainly cared for dementia patients. Frequency analysis, independent sample t-test, multiple regression analysis using dummy variables, mediating effect and moderating effect analysis were performed.

Results : There were statistically significant differences in subjective health, stress, and depression between the dementia patient¡¯s family and the general subjects. Both the subjective health and stress of the dementia patient's family had a significant effect on their depression. Among the effects of subjective health on depression, stress was significant in both mediating and moderating effects.

Conclusion : In the future, treatment to lower the stress level of dementia patient¡¯s family is suggested in the course of occupational therapy programs for dementia patient¡¯s family subjects. Such service provision for dementia patient¡¯s family will be the cornerstone of community-centered systematic dementia patient management.
